Questions regarding ATi HD4850 512MB Sapphire

Currently i have the following components:

ASRock 775Dual-VSTA Mother Board, and some brand name Power Supply @ 400W.

I was wondering about the following:

1. Will i be able to use the ATI HD4850 on the mentioned MB.

2. If im able, what are the downsides?

Just to make things clear, my question is regarding the following:

ATI HD4850 requires PCI x16 - my mother board has x4
ATI HD4850 requires 450W - i have 400

Is it possible to use this graphic card with lower performance on my PC or it will not even start?

Can you give us some sort of information on your PSU? Also, is your motherboard PCI-E2.0 or 1.0?

The info I need on your PSU is the amperage on the 12-volt rail, and what brand it is. If it's Corsair, you're fine.

The recommended PSU for 4850 is 450W. More PSU info needed here....
You can run 4850 on PCIe x16 1.0, so don't worry about that...
But, he said that he only had PCI x4...

Your PC may boot up fine initially. But once your system is under load, you may experience random system crashes or reboots.

Thanks for the wonderful answers. I will buy another Mother Board (GIGABYTE P31-S3G - probably (for the nice price that it has ) ).

So, i have another question now. If i do not change the 400W Power Supply, is the system crashes/reboot expected while everything else is in order?

Just to let you know, it works perfectly, for now, on 400W PS.
