Questions regarding monitor purchase

Greetings everyone,
I have the following pc specs ( i5 6400, RX 460 Nitro 4GB, 8GB DDR4) And I am planing to buy a HP 22es monitor tomorrow which has a 21.5 inch Full HD IPS display.

As you all can see my specs won't be able to do well at 1080p so I was thinking of down-scaling my resolution to 1600x900p which maintains the 16:9 aspect ratio to get better performance in games considering it's a 21.5 inch monitor which is petty damn low cuz my present one is 768p.
Will the game look really bad if I do that ?

You should be fine at 1080p. Even if you don't get 60fps I'd still turn down settings before I dipped below 1080p

I won't be upgrading in next 3 years so I don't think it will handle anything over mid by that time

Well then just down scale it if you don't get the fps you want on low settings 1080p... Until then enjoy your monitor at its native resolution
