i know this belongs in the memory forums, but it doesnt look like anyone reads the momory forums very regularly, so ill ask it here. My PC is a dell Dimension 4600. the memory in it operates at 2.6V, if i purchesed 2.5V memory, would it work, or do i need to stick strictly to 2.6V memory? Any help would be appreciated

Exactly what memory are you concerned about?? There's a 99% chance it'll be fine...more voltage, especially at those low levels is not a bad thing, but some value RAM might have a hissyfit (only if the RAM is really crappy). The only downer of having a higher voltage on the bad RAM would be reduced longevity anyway (from 7 years to 6 or something I'd guess).

Anyway, it'll be fine.

Dude!.....you got a Dell...

i want to throw 2 of these in my system.

hehe, i got it brand new on ebay for $600 after shipping, came with P4 2.8C GHz, ATI radeon 9800 pro, so i figured i would have paid more in components.

I dont O/C, and i scored a 5700 in 3Dmark '03 so i figure it was a good buy

First of all, any DDR memory should be able to take 2.6v, in fact that's actually within the tolerances of some boards when they're set at 2.5v. Second, PC3200 IS 2.6v, were you planning on adding slower RAM?

My ABIT NF7 v2.0 always runs 2.5v DDR at 2.6v (the lowest memory voltage at BIOS is 2.6v instead of 2.5v)

You got a 2.8C, Dell would have matched that with PC3200, PC3200 is supposed to be 2.6v, so what memory did you purchase?
