What Tim's referring to is when you're inspecting how much video RAM your computer has from within windows, it'll still show 898, but it's 898x2 because each card has that much to spare.

In reality, yes you have 1796 mb of total video ram.

Edit: Correct me if I'm wrong, I hate being presumptuous!

Video RAM, yes you would have double.

System RAM is different (I'm pretty sure you're aware of this).

Edit: Note that you would have increased ram for increased processing. Higher resolutions can still give issues because each video card is still trying to process a higher resolution image with higher end graphics. If you really want a higher resolution, you should probably grab 1gb per card. However, if you're just looking for increased performance at something like 1680x1050 or 1920x1080, then you should be OK.

You don't double Vram when SLI though, its like crossfire, the amount useable by games is just the amount on a single card.

Right right, and I kinda realized that after I said it, I just didn't word it right.

Adding a second video card doesn't really "increase your video RAM to double for video game's purposes", rather I believe it just "adds a second GPU to do processing" if that makes more sense.

Again, correct me if I'm being retarded.

this is exactly what i meant , maybe i should have put it that way , so the amount of VRAM used by a game is still gonna be 898 and not the 1976.
