Hello all,

I am looking to buy a PC monitor. I've selected the AOC I2769VM, but I have heard from many people that in built monitor speakers are awful, and should be avoided. So, I have also selected a soundbar to go with it. Before I buy these, I would really appreciate it if someone could confirm that the soundbar will connect to the monitor via 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable from the bar to the monitor.

The monitor has a headphone jack, which is presumably 3.5mm since it isn't specified otherwise, and the soundbar has a 3.5mm input jack, so a 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male audio cable would work fine.

Thank you both! MauveCloud, are you 100% sure because if you are I'll order them now. I thought you probably could anyway but I just wanna be 100% certain before I buy anything.

You can use that cable to connect the soundbar to the monitor, but to get any sound the monitor will have to be connected to your PC with a HDMI or DisplayPort cable.

To make things simple you can just connect the soundbar to your PC as though its an ordinary speaker.

I'll be using the monitor for Xbox and Sky as well so the monitor has to send the sound to the soundbar otherwise the other devices will have no sound. So are you also sure that the monitor will send any sound from the HDMI/DP to the soundbar?

I'm pretty sure. One can never be 100% sure of this kind of thing, though. There's always a slim chance (might be less than 0.1% though) of getting a defective unit, but if that happens, you should be able to return it for replacement or refund (if not, that would mean it's time to start using a different site for ordering your parts).

To get sound out of all those inputs, every device connected to your monitor (except the soundbar) has to be using a HDMI or DisplayPort cable.
The monitor has two HDMI and one DisplayPort connections.

Yeah, that's fine:
Xbox - HDMI
Sky - HDMI
PC - DisplayPort

And then I could have the soundbar on the 3.5mm and it would play all 3? Thanks for the help!
