Quick (but winded) question about screwing around with my storage

A rather simple (and probably stupid by most of your standards) question but I just want to be safe.

I want to test a few things on a separate SSD from my current SSD. I'm going to install windows 7 on the empty SSD but in order to do this I need to disconnect my CURRENT storage unit from my system entirely.

Can I disconnect my current SSD (call it Sandisk) completely, replace it with a different unit (we'll call this one Crucial) to screw around on, and then reconnect the Sandisk to resume my everyday computing?.

My assumption is that it'd be fine considering the two drives will have nothing to do with eachother. My concern is if my system may have issues after I've removed the Sandisk, inserted and used the Crucial, then reinstalling and continuing on with the Sandisk.

At this point I'm trying to word this in a way that even I could understand, bear with me...

System + Sandisk, System + Crutial, System + Sandisk. I think that does it justice...

Would there be any adverse effects?

You again!

Anywho. If you remember from my last post I was hoping I could install windows 7 on a separate SSD and continue using my current one.

But amidst that thought I figured "I have the resources to test if my OS has anything to do with the issues I'm having". What better way to test that than having nothing but the OS on storage? But thanks for the help.

That pretty much nails it. Thanks for the assurance.

"your last post" ?
Hell...I don't remember MY last post.

But yes...for that function...try the install on a different drive.
