Quick freeze ups randomly...

Suddenly after using the computer for months without probems, the screen will lock up, for a couple seconds and then the screen would turn black and turn back on and everything is normal again. When the screens flash off for that second i hear my case fans slow down for a split second too.

Initially I thought it was memory but the memory test had no issues. Then thought maybe the video card? With the fan slowing down, I am leaning towards my Corsair 850w psu. Had it for about 3 years.

Any suggestions?

Have you spilled any liquid lately on any of the components?

That's what I've done a few times (with a few various computers) to experience similar problems.

Now I am thinking, that fan that I hear slowing down, could that be the video card's fan slowing down, so with that idea, the video card is the one indeed dying?

Can't say for sure, but it does (from what you describe) appear that the
video card is nearing it's end.
