I have 2 DDR4 memory module Kingston Fury HyperX in my PC they are both 8gb. The code on the back is hx426c15fbk2/16 they came as a kit of 2 (HX426C15FBK2/1616GB (8GB 1G x 64-Bit x 2 pcs.)DDR4-2666 CL15 288-Pin DIMM).

My question is, do the other two slots need to be filled with identical modules or could i put in any Kingston fury modules that run at 2666Mhz both being 8gb each, totaling 32GB? I understand that they all need to run at the same speed, and can't exceed my MB's maximum memory capacity.

Mixing RAM...question asked here just about every day.

And the answer remains the same - Might work, might fail.

Unless it comes sold as a set, in the same box....that is "mixing".
Even the same brand and model....mixing.

Mix and match memory is always a gamble. It might work, it might blue screen, it might not boot. Matched memory kits are sold for a reason. They are guaranteed to work as a set. Anything else, it is your responsibility to make it work.

What is the make/model of your motherboard?
AMD is picky about ram and is unlikely to work.
Intel is more tolerant.
If you want to try, check that you can return the ram if it does not work out.
Considering that ram is not so expensive these days, it might be better to buy a 2 x 16gb replacement kit.
Then, try adding in your old ram. If it works, great, you have 48gb.
If not, sell the old or keep it as a spare.

My MB is the Asrock Fatality Z190 Gaming K4

So after reading this thread I was thinking perhaps one of 2 kits.

Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (2x16GB) 2666MHz DDR4 CL16 Desktop Memory Kit of 2 KF426C16BBK2/32

or this

Kingston FURY Beast 32GB (4x8GB) 2666MHz DDR4 CL16 Desktop Memory Kit of 4 KF426C16BBK4/32

according to my manual I can go up to 64GB so there is this option too but i could work out a bit pricey

Kingston FURY Beast 64GB (4x16GB) 2666MHz DDR4 CL16 Desktop Memory Kit of 4 KF426C16BBK4/64

Your thoughts would be further appreciated. :)

that's great thanks you. Ill probably go for two sticks then. I don't need 64, but hey a little bit of future proofing wouldn't hurt lol. I but being told that 2 sticks in the 'standard recommendation' is a big help. thanks again.
