Quick mobile processors question .

Hello,
Given those three which is the best to get ?
Intel core i5 540M 2.53Ghz
Intel core i7 620M 2.66Ghz
Intel core i7 720QM 1.60Ghz
Forgive me my ignorace , in terms of laptop technology I live in 2008.

Depends. The Core i7 720QM 1.6GHz would have the most raw power - it's a quad core with HyperThreading, and when only two cores are used, it boosts up both cores to 2.4GHz, and up to 2.8GHz when only one core is being used. As for the Core i5 540M and Core i7 620M, they're both dual cores with HyperThreading and Turbo Boost, the i7 620M has 4MB L3 cache, 1MB more than the i5 540M. Also, the i7 620M can Turbo Boost up to 3.33GHz, while the i5 540M can only Turbo up to 3.066GHz.

The Core i7 620M will be faster for single threaded or dual threaded applications, but the i7 720QM will be faster in applications which use more than two cores. The i5 540M and i7 620M will have better battery lives than the i7 720QM however, if that is important.

As I understood all of those processors needs to be boosted for best performance?
I have red somewhere that turbo boost would not activate when temperatue is too high. Im using Dell XPS m1730 now, and overheating is a night mare ! !

Is i7620M faster than i720QM when not boosted ? [ for games ]
