i was installing windows on my new computer the wizard ask me to full or quick format my hard drive, what is the most advisable, and please explain it to me why, thanks in advance...

Solution
Yes. However all disks have bad sectors. Even out of the box new ones. This is not an issue as windows will not use them. If you are curious or just bothered by this, you can run the full format over night before using the disk. Also the sectors are never repaired in the sense that a bad sector is made good. A marker is place at the start and end of the sector that in effect prevents it from ever being used. If I were you I would not be concerned. Do the quick format and enjoy your system.
Quick is all you need. When you choose to run a full/regular format, files are removed from the volume that you are formatting and the hard disk is scanned for bad sectors. The scan for bad sectors is responsible for the majority of the time that it takes to format a volume.
If you choose the Quick format option, format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the disk for bad sectors. You can also check your disk after the format or the installation. If you right click on the drive in My Computer and look under the tools tab, there is an option to check the drive for errors. You can also do it from the CMD widow using chkdsk /r command.

so all i need is a quick format, since my harddsk doesn't have bad sectors coz its new? did i get it right?
