Upgrading my gpu and i noticed somethin worrying. My gpu requires 38A on12V and has a 6pin slot. My psu states it has two rails, 12v1 with 20A and 12v2 with 20A (2 separate 6 pin connectors). Will it work and should I try it or is it best to not even bother and get a better psu? Gpu in question is nvidia 960 gtx strix and the psu is Lc600h-12 (by lc or lg power). Quick answer would be appreciated since the rig is already disasembled. :)

Geforce gtx960 (asus, strix). I can only connect 6pin one which means 75w from slot + 75w from 6pin =150w but the card specifies that it needs abit over 200w. So is it still enough? Sorry but I really don't know jack about this stuff and electricty is a mystery to me.. Far as i know the nightmare described above could really happen :S

If the card has two connectors they have to be both connected with appropriate connectors. Looking at pictures of that card it appears to have only 1 six pin so you will be fine.

Yeah it ony has one 6-pin. But won't that deliver only half the power? I will most likely boy a new PSU now anyways, but thanks for the answers. One addional thing: when looking for a new psu to buy, is it better to stick to 1 rail then? It needs to specify that it has one 12v 38a+ right?

The card will not hit 150watts max which explains the 1 x 6 pin http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_960_STRIX_OC/27.html

Sure, get one of those to get you by for now, but I would not use them for a prolonged basis. I would only use them long enough until you can spring for an EVGA or Seasonic...or even a tier 1 Corsair.

If you don't have the budget to buy a safe power supply that delivers clean power to your components, I'd just return the 960 and get a 750ti, which a junk 600W power supply will usually handle (a lot of junk 600W are only just mediocre if you use them as if they were 300W power supplies).

The power supply is the most important part of your PC. It's like buying a used car with damaged brakes - if you don't have the budget to fix the brakes in addition to buying the car, you don't actually have the budget to buy the car.
