Hi folks I'm about to pull the trigger on an Asus Prime 5070ti non-oc. Being a somewhat old fart I remember back in the days 5-10 years ago or so when Asus was the best of the best. I just wanted to make sure that this is mostly still true and my choice for an Asus GPU is not a bad one. I remember Steve Burke from Gamer's Nexus saying "There's no such thing as a good brand only a good product." Reviews for this GPU (Asus Prime 5070ti non-oc) look solid. Is my choice a good one? Any reason not to pull the trigger on this bad boy?
Thanks!

Asus now command a high price tag due to their brand image. I'd pick anything you have access to which might be cheaper and a non-OC version.

In all honesty, you ask first, then go buy. Since the advent of the RTX3000 series, overclocking your card at home is a thing of the past and the overclocking from the factory is minimal. We're at a point in time where we're not exactly paying for value in parts/products but mere bells and whistles that don't up the frames per second.

I guess I have bee the winner of the silicon lottery a few times.
My Asus dual 4070 does 2900-3040 depending on game/ folding unit.
My 3060ti FE does 1890-2015.
Asus Dual and EVGA SC 1070s both did 1900-2015 ,although the EVGA did it with .1v less.
And A few more older cards that clocked well.
EVGA 960 FTW did not overclock well.

The KEY is Cooling and Fan Curves.
Well ventilated case with good airflow is a must.
Fan curve is simple. 40c=40%fan. then 80c=80% Fan.
81 and above=100% fan.
The 4070 is running 63c and the 3060ti is running 67c as I type this.
Both are loaded 100% with spikes down to 89% occasionally.

Its a decent choice, id also take a good look at the RX 9070 XT if you still had a moment. The RX 9070 XT has actually gotten a few percent faster since this review. AMD released a new driver recently that increased performance in a few titles, its now on average faster than the 5070 TI, but its anywhere from a few percent slower to a few percent faster depending on the title and not counting outliers. The biggest difference is the cost between the two, as the RX 9070 XT is typically a decent amount cheaper.
