quick question about cpu bottleneck

Solution

While yes it will bottleneck, its not "too old"

OP its not the best use of monetary resources to run a 1080ti on such a processor it will run most games very well especially at higher resolutions. The problem is you maximum framerate will be hampered and in some CPU heavy games that CPU is just not up to snuff.

If you are however planning on upgrading the rest of your components shortly I'd say go for it. Otherwise consider backing down the GPU and use that money towards a better motherboard/cpu.
