Building a system on newegg as we speak, but im not sure which board as they all look alike to me, so can i please get some input as to which p35 based board i should go with :)

Im considering:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127030 - 184.99

ASUS P5K-E/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131196 - $164.99

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3P LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128047 - $159.99

Foxconn P35A-S LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813186124 - $149.99

I do plan on Ocing a Q6600, im going to purchase the crucial/patriot/or corsair pc2 6400 memory, and use a tuniq tower for cooling, so which one will fit me needs ya think(all 4 look alike to me lol)

thnx!

Apart from price, you might want to think of priorities [:mousemonkey:2] , how many SATA ports do you want/need?, is WIFI a must have?, why would you want two PCI-e slots?, these are just some of the questions that once answered make the choosing of a motherboard a little bit easier.

Also do you need IEEE/Firewire and how many.

As Mouse points out, often the only thing you get from a more expensive board is more features. If you plan on using them great,
if not the money spent for the unused features may be better placed on other components.

If you are looking at spending a large chunk on a Mobo and you can wait, the P38s may be the better choice. They should be around very soon.

Yes, a P38 would probably take a while, as he would need to save up a few million before buying one. P38's were great airplanes, and I'd love to fly one sometimes, but they won't do much for the computer world, except in games.

Now if you mean the Intel based X38, that looks like a great mobo and its one of two that I'm waiting for, the other being from the competion's Barcelona in the AMD camp. I want to see how they each run and the benches before making a final decsion. That should happen sometime in the next week or so, unless AMD does another delay.

Abit or Gigabyte. Asus has been having severe issues with the P5K-E and Foxconn isn't worth that much. I personally have the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R and it is an awesome board. I have a Q6600 and have it OC'd to 2709mhz[9x301fsb]. I could get the fsb higher if I raised the voltage on the CPU a bit, but I don't want to overvolt just yet. I almost went with the Abit myself, but I like the fact that Gigabyte uses an all solid state capacitor design. Your choice of coarse...

abit uses all solid caps in the Pro & a mixture of solid & electrolytic in the standard IP35 (which is also worth a consideration if you don't need all the Pro's features http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813127029).

What about MSI P35 platinum rev 1.1?? ever since MSI fixed the bios somewhat (rev 1.3 seems to be crap) this board has been getting pretty decent reviews
