I was just wondering what the best way to remove the TIM off a heatsink is? I just picked up some good grease to replace it in hopes of it running a bit cooler and I'm not sure how I should go about getting it off the heatsink/processor to make sure I don't damage anything.

Many thanks,

Reply to myself, I was also wondering what the "optimum" average temp would be for the Athlon Tbird 1.33 =)

Thanks again!

right, for cleaning nail varnish remover/isopropyl alcohol does nicely. Just use a combination of fingernail, cotton buds and finally lint free cloth. make sure not to scratch the hs.

As a reference, my stock 1.33 t-bird is running 39 degrees C under 100% load for 2 hrs. It'll drop to about 30/31 at idle. This is with a swiftech 462/delta hsf combo. FOP38 was getting high 40s load.

Typically I'd recommend staying under 50-55 degrees as a high limit, 40-50 as a warm snug feeling and under 40 for a nice 'lots of headroom to overclock' feeling.
