I am going to be buying the Q6600 and overclocking to about 3.0 to 3.2 GHZ on air. My question is what ram do you guys recommend. I can go with either 4x1GB of DDR 1066 with 5-5-5-15 timings and underclock it for lower timings or 4x1GB of DDR 800 with 4-4-4-12 timings or 2x2GB of DDR 800 with 5-5-5-15 timings? I never plan on putting more then 4GB in my system and price is not a big concern either. If you guys could give me some opinions and your reasons why that would be much appreciated.

So your max fsb will be 355.... depends on what you want really. Many people prefer to run at a 1:1 fsb:ram ratio..... theoretically then, ddr667 would do, with a slight overclock. Generally core2 chips prefer higher frequencies than tighter timings, but this depends on the motherboard a bit as well. Personally, I run my OC'd E6600 with a divider to get both the highest CPU clock speed and highest ram frequency possible. The best (and not too badly priced either) ram around at the minute is crucial ballistix 1066. I have 2, 2 x 1 GB kits. Both run at 1066 with 4-4-4-12 timings at the standard 2.2v, or DDR800 3-3-3-6, or 1300+ with 5-5-5-15 and 2.25v. Simply staggering.

On my particular motherboard, 1066 4-4-4-12 is the best performer, but the difference between all of those speeds and latencies is not significant.
