In multi threaded software it'll tear your 5800 apart. However in most games and single/dual threaded situations, if your not a heavy multitasker the 5800 will perform better due to the much higher clock speed. Phenom is faster than the old K8 Athlons but only enough to make up a few hundred mhz in most single threaded tests.

gaming is all i do....but apparently his 9600 Agena + a 9600GT SSC beats my 5800+ and 4850x2 by about 5000 points in 3dmark05, if he sends a screen shot proving it ill pick his system up for 360. he says he gets 21k in 3dmark05

I got the money, and my motherboard supports AM2/AM2+/AM3 CPUs. It's a Gigabyte MA-770-UD3. I'm just wondering if it is worth it to upgrade...And what I will get the most return from if I were to upgrade

I would recommend in that case a Phenom 2 940...

If you got the dosh and it fits the board, its the one !!!!

We should all look more to what people like you are doing for your own future..

Americans are still no where near green that they should be... UK are better but still a long way off to what they could be...

Greed is the thing that stops all this..

Renewable resources are the future people, if you want a future...

picked up the x3 720, thought i was paying 135 + 3.5% sales tax, got home and it was 140 + 3.5%. oh well. I'm about to try it out. Oh I switched from the antec 900 to the tempest, will return the antec to best buy tomorrow. (was used when I got it, the top fan grill was bent and box was obviously retaped along the seams).
