QuickCam Zoom?

I'm looking for a webcam with a zoom lens that can be placed in a remote
location and will send photos to the Internet with the zoom "enabled"
(meaning that I want every captured photo to be "zoomed"). The PC it
will attach to is restarted from time to time so the webcam will have to
automatically go into zoom mode when it's restarted.

Is the QuickCam Zoom such a camera? I've been all over the Logitech
site but can't find anything about how the zoom feature is enabled.
They don't even post a manual on-line so far as I can tell.

If the QuickCam Zoom would work for this purpose, how is the quality of
zoomed photos?
I the QuickCam Zoom would NOT work for this purpose, what other webcams
should I look at, knowing that a zoom lens feature is a high priority?

Quite bad (normal : this is software zoom).



An external analog camera would fits better your need (hardware optical
zoom), Ie: the old "Sony evi-g21"
(http://www.sony.net/Products/ISP/pdf/catalog/EVIG20E.pdf)
connected to a PCI TV Card (ie Hauppauge).
