In the previous motherboard I had it had a 'fast boot' setting in the BIOS. It essentially skipped the checking of other hardware in the computer and trusted that it was all in order. Is there a similar setting for the Z68 Gen3 Extreme3? Because I have an SSD, it takes about the same time to POST as it does to load Windows. InstantBoot doesn't seem to do anything on or off.

Solution
Mine boots in 12 seconds with all the checking and splash screens.

About the only setting I recommend changing is the splash screen, and sure make sure if you have a discrete GPU that it's initialized first (PEG or PCIE Express). /edit - also don't leave junk in the DVD/BR <or> make the SSD as priority 1 Boot Device in the BIOS.

The above post will botch d-Mode.
Sorry, but your suggestion doesn’t help shorten POST time.
Your suggestion helps after POST is completed and the O/S (Windows) begins to run.
You can only shorten POST time through BIOS settings.

1.) Enable Memory Fast Boot (page 57 of your motherboard manual)
2.) If you have a PCI graphics card set IGD Multi-monitor to Disabled (page 62)
3.) If you have a PCI sound card set Onboard HD Audio & Onboard HDMI HD Audio to Disabled (page 64)
4.) Disable Full Screen Logo (page 71)

Not sure if any of these suggestions will reduce POST time but it’s worth a shot.
