Hi
I recently set up a computer with a 771 motherboard & dual xeon E5410 cpus.

The only problem I have is that the fans make a huge racket that's driving me to distraction. The company I bought the components from, and a few other computer companies I've talked to, have told me that there are no quiet cpu fans available for 771 motherboards with 2 cpus.

Surely this can't be right!

I've spent time searching on the net without much luck. Perhaps I've searched in the wrong places.

I did find a product from Cooljag (DAL-D/S), but no reference to whether or not it's quiet. Because I'm in Australia & would have to get it shipped over specially, I don't want to take the risk without some sort of indication of whether or not it'll solve the problem.

Any suggestions?

What size are the fans? 120mm, 92mm, 80mm etc. Your cooler should be fine if all you want to do is decrease the noise just replace the fan itself. :) The links themselves don't deliver to Australia, but gives you hints into what you should be looking for. High CFM with low dbA.

I'd recommend for 120mm : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-004-SY&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=4&name=Scythe%20S-FLEX%201200RPM%20Ultra%20Quiet%20120mm%20Fan%20-%203/4%20pin

92mm: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/138589

80mm: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/97857

70mm: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-035-AK&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=818&name=Akasa%20AK-179BKT-C%2070mm%20Auto%20Thermal%20Sensor%20Black%20Case%20Fan%20-%203%20Pin

Or if your after a whole new HS with dbA listed, here's link: http://www.xpcgear.com/intelxeon771.html

Must admit i haven't bought from them for awhile, though the few items i've been interested in have been fairly competitively priced (I was looking at HDD's and caddies). I suppose it's just depends what your looking for really :).

hdd yes but coolers, case, specially cpu and graphics card is overpriced.when the price reduction release by intel or nvidia, ebuyer "react" to them like a month or 2 behind the purposed shedule. so you get the idea what they are trying to do!
