Hi.
I am looking to build my own system but I need advice!
Somebody told me to get a 2 way sli gtx 780 because I want to get the BenQ XL2420T with this build.
My budget is around 3000$.
I want it to be the best as possible but still quiet and high performance.
So I hope someone out there would help me

Thanks:)

2way SLI is only good if you are using the CS6 version of Premiere Pro. CS5 and FCPx do not support multiple GPU's, but excellent at gaming.
Also media editing will benifit GREATLY from a RAID5 or greater array. Go with an i7 series, as the added L3 cache is invaluable in media editing, and you're gonna want an ATX board with plenty of SATA ports. A large case with plenty of fans is a good idea as well.
Price out some components on NewEgg.com and post them here, I will tell you if it makes a good build or not.

Read up a bit on Power Supplys as well, there are a lot of cheapo 1000W PSU's out there that will blow up if you pull anything over 400W on them.
I currently have an older media editing rig, but it's pretty quiet and works well. The secret to speedy editing is the RAID5 array (or a Raid0 with backup).

Looks pretty good, that Hydro100 won't fit into your case however, you might need a bit of modifications to make it work. I've got an H80, and it works pretty well, just have to have some other case fans pushing in so the radiator fans don't have to work so hard. Also get some 120mm case fans. It may seem counterintuitive but the more fans you have, the quieter you system can be due to more fans running more slowly vs fewer fans running at max speed. (EDIT: Oops looks like it comes with case fans. You might consider a case with another intake on the side panel where your GPU will be, but the plexiglass panel is pretty awesome!)

The video card is good for video editing, should fly through HD footage no problem, and 4k with minimal rendering.
I personally try to avoid Samsung hard drives, but if it works it works...

Also you will get better performance out of 4 sticks of ram than just the two, especially since the RAM controller is on the CPU and you would have to overclock to make the best use of that RAM's speed (which is delirious), you might want to find RAM that is 1600, since even that speed will require a modest overclock on your CPU. Having more cards also increases memory bandwidth, since you are using more channels into the CPU. I think you can find 16GB or even 32GB of 1600 for cheaper than what you have selected. For Compressor and Adobe Media Encoder you want at least 2GB per CPU core, and for Premiere Pro 3GB per core is ideal.

Nice find on the Barracuda drive it's a good price, I've got a few of them, although the failure rate of that series is somewhere like 1/15. I'd recommend getting two or more drives for a form of RAID. I've found that RAID 5 is the best for editing, since it offers speed and redundancy. I'm personally running an AID0 array with Easeus backup to an external hard disk. I've lose media on a drive before, and there's nothing worse than having to go back to the client to explain why you "lost" their footage.

Finally your motherboard is a tri-SLI board, but it doesn't have any PCIE slots for add-on cards like a KONA or AJA card if you use a tape deck. Not that it's an issue, but something to think about.

Thanks for the feedback!!
Is it possible that you can write me a list of the "changes" you have made and recommend?? And is it possible to change the monitor to a cheaper kind but still very good, if so any recommendations?

Changes:

  • ■ Better CPU cooler
    ■ Another motherboard(same performance)
    ■ Better ram
    ■ Smaller SSD
    ■ Bigger HDD
    ■ Almost same monitor for cheaper
    ■ No reason for plat PSU, i choose gold because there werent full modular +80 bronze.
    ■ 2x 780ti instead of 2x 780.
    Cheaper
