Okie im irritated by the constant noise my PC makes. My PC is only a PIII 666Mhz so alot of cooling is not necessary but it is still noisy. So I was thinking of changing my power supply fan for a quality fan with is very quiet. Can enybody recommend eny good/quiet fans for a PSU? The second most noisy component is my Maxtor 80GB 7200RPM ultra ATA 133MB/s HD. Is there eny way to sheild off the noise from this beast....

To quiet the PSU, get an Enermax or Antec with temp monitoring. It will adjust the fan speed for the load on the PSU.

For the hard drive, the best you can do is some sound absorbing material. In fact, if you are crazy about noise, coat the entire inside of your case with the stuff, and you won't be able to hear it for the blood pumping in your ear drums.

XP 2500+ Barton
A7N8X Dlx
2x512MB Corsair PC3200
MSI GF3 Ti500 w/64MB DDR
16x DVD-ROM
2x80GB 7200RPM Maxtor
Onboard audio

My computer is bigger than your computer....

I have an Enermax PSU which the fan speed can be adjusted manually. This feature works very well in lowering noise level.

Drive enclosures will work, but you have to ensure the drive won't overheat.

thats why you add some copper in there to cool it down ! hehehehehehe, with some fins comin out the top n bottom, its the best. Hopefully I'll have one made once I grab the accoustic dampening foam I just found and I'll post some pics
