Are there any PSUs out there can supply their full rated load and remain quiet? I've seen some PSUs out there without fans at all, can these things deliver? I don't mind fans as long as they stay quiet at load. Right now I have an Antec Truepower 480 running one of my systems, and while it's a reliable PSU, it gets noisy when it has to crank.

Any suggestions on truly quiet and reliable PSUs in the 400-500 watt range will be appreciate, thanks.

Enermax Noisetaker 420

Can't even hear it over other stuff in system, and all of it was also bought with goal of being quiet.

Vantec Ion 400W

This has been very good for me with
4-HDDs
1-USB HDD,
3-optical drives,
1-floppy,
1-7in1 memory card reader,
a Sunbeam fan controller,
2-92mm fans, 2-120mm fans,
Leadtek GF4 Ti4400 video card
ASUS P4PE mobo
2.66 P4 CPU
2x512 PC2700 RAM

And it runs all this with the fan switch set to the medium position.

My antec truepower 550 is absolutely silent all the time. You can look at my sig to see what it is powering, I'm probably working it pretty hard :)

I'm using the Antec NeoPower 480. Nice modular design, gobs of power and easy to install and work with. You could do much worse.

I have an Akasa powmax 480 and a globalwin Saf420 the Saf power supply cost £97 (about $140 US dollars?) and the powmax480 is just as quiet and delivers more power.
