quietest card around $250?

Looking to replace my HD6850 with something that has more horsepower, and hopefully is quieter. The case is a fairly small one (Silverstone GD04) so heat may be an issue. My wife is bugged by constantly whirring fans in the living room, so I'm willing to pay a little extra (and maybe even sacrifice a frame or two) for silence.

270x or 760? MSI, Asus, Sapphire?

GTX 760 is 14% faster than R9 270X ,on average. i d get Asus or MSI Twin Frozr

The r9 270x toxic for the AMD GPUs, I dont hear it even at full load and it is at low temeperature. Also the fastest r9 270x and with most OC potential but it is also very large with around 310mm...

Yeah, I've only got about 280mm to work with. The small case is a blessing and a curse...

The r9 270x Sapphire Vapor-X would fit, also not loud and costs a bit less and less overclock - 26,4 cm and it should also have UEFI.

Looks nice, but it's running about $270 on Amazon. For that price would I be better off with a 760?

Unfortunately AMD cards have jumped up like $30+ over the past few weeks. Now there is not much difference in price for 270x to gtx 760
