Quieting the Computer...

Ok, I like to watch my tv shows at night (George Lopez, The Office... Etc...) and I have just gotten done building my computer... I wanted to watch the shows, but my pc is extremely loud. It's not THAT loud, but it's loud enough for me not to hear the shows... Is there a way I can get this to quiet down, maybe get some sound-proof foam? I'll try to get some pics of where my computer is located, that way you guys can get an idea of where you could put of silencing foam... Thanks!

Change the processor HSF to the AC Freezer 7 Pro. Make sure your motherboard supports PWM. Most modern motherboards do.

Hehe Lupiron yeah it's me, and pcgamer, I already have a sunbeam core contact cpu freezer. I'm not gonna spend anymore money on a fourth cooler.

try replacing some of your case fans with low-noise ones, and also take a look at your power supply. i recently upgraded mine and i couldn't believe how much quieter the new one was!

I'm pretty sure all the noise in mine is coming from the video cards... I used to have an 8600 GTS and that was super quiet, but when I upgraded to the 9800 GTX's, it started making hella noise. And also, my power supply only has like two 80 mm fans, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem.

It might help if I screw in half a panel on the back so the hot air can get out, yet it'll block some of the light and noise.

There are settings in newer motherboard/bioses to regulate and possibly slow down your cpu fan.You need to provide some specs on this forum if you expect help. Software application 'Speedfan' enables you to regulate your cpu fan. Yes, the above ' AC freezer pro is excellent if you need better cooling, the fan on my 6750 averages 550 (deathly quiet). If you have 2x 9800gtx i believe you are right and a lot of noise will be generated by them.If the general temperature of your case is high the cards fans will be running at 100%, my 8800gtx runs at 60% (reasonably quiet) unless i am gaming , then it's 100% and is a bit noisy. I like the novel drawing, but you have to take account of room temperature. It doesnt mean crap what cooling you try if your bedroom etc is like the inside of a sauna, and there is no external ventilation into the room.

I take it that your case is an Antec 900, which I have and find to be a fairly quiet case, quiet fans, etc. On the extreme end, you could put a water cooling setup on the 9800 GTX cards, or go to a different air cooler, such as a HR-03, if such will fit. I used a water cooler in the past for a 1900 XTX and it quieted the card down a lot. I doubt putting any foam in the case will drop the noise levels significantly. Worse, foam might act as a heat insulator and cause the video card fan to run faster, thus making more noise.

Ok..... Ummmm..... I don't know what I did, maybe my ears just died a little, but I went in the BIOS and adjusted all the fan speeds to 80% instead of 100%, and it's extremely tolerable, all I can hear is a low hum. Wow.... Ok then, I guess it's close to being fixed....?

Better check if cpu temp is stable with fans at 80%
