My parts chosen are:

Case: NZXT Phantom 820 Matte Black
CPU: Intel i7 4770K
SSD: Samsung 840 EVO 250GB
RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8GB)
HDD: WD Black SATA3 1TB
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VI Formula
Graphics Card: MSI Lightning GTX 780
PSU: Corsair AX860
Optical Drive: Asus 24x Burner
CPU Cooler: Swiftech H320 Liquid Cooler

This is the final build I have decided on and i've done a fair bit of research to pick out my parts. I know that some of the stuff is unessecary, but I can get it cheaper than most people. Wasn't sure if I should get another drive or replace some of the stock NZXT fans? Thoughts and/or any possible improvements?

Solution
this build is not overkill at all, its quite basic gamer, even tho you got a small ssd in there, get 500gb ssd and skip the hhd, add another 500 later if needed. or get i5 4670.
Only problem is that a) I'm in Australia, so this sits on $3000 pretty much exactly, as well as the fact that I was going to buy another two monitors> Also, since this was my first build, I kinda wanted to go for something easier than watercooling, so I could put it together myself.
