QX6800 or i7-920?

Okay, if you all had a choice what would you choose I know i7 is 45nm and the QX6800 65nm but in general as a gamer which processor would you choose?

The I7 of course, its so far ahead in overall performance, it should be the default choice

Hmm..... it would really depend on what you playing.

Although for most games they'll perform the same.

Now with the qx6800 not made anymore, i would recommend getting the i7 920 as it the current cpu.

For a new system definitely the i7, you have no more upgrade options on LGA 775. If you look at the chart that warmon posted you will notice that when the CPU is the limit, in both cases the max FPS is significantly higher than you need, and once you increase resolution and detail the GPU starts limiting you. I would expect the QX6800 to cost you more than an i7, so an i7 would probably allow you to put more into a GPU where it really matters.
