I have been trying to run http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/ on my Ubuntu 14.0 machine but everytime i press the icon to start the program nothing happens. Maybe I need some administrator rights or I dont know. I am not used to Linux, I use it temporarily because it detects the JBOD array that I want to use that program on. If anyone knows a better program to recover deleted files with than you are more than welcome to post it.

Thnx in advance.

Could you explain me how to do that? I cant seem to get it to work. I tried using sudo -i and in that new terminal i tried sudo r-linux but that doesnt do anything.

its asking me for a password, but my normal password isnt working. am I supposed to know it? I can only login using sudo -s or -i with my password, it gets me root@PC-name but I dont know how to start the app

I forgot Ubuntu doesn't have a root account by default so sudo is the only way to go.

Try these real quick

ok i think i got it but now it says: /usr/bin/rlinux: 19: /usr/bin/rlinux: /usr/local/R-Linux/bin/R-Linux: not found

That kinda looks like it is missing a configuration file. Try redownloading and setting it up. I'll see if I can't download a copy this evening or something so I can see how it works.

In the mean time give something like System rescue cd, Knoppix, or trinity rescue cd a shot.
All are linked from this page

Now that I'm thinking about it though what created the array originally and how is it set up (file system etc.)?
