Where exactly is the Sky Pillar in R/S? I've heard that you get to it by
surfing east from Pacifidlog but I tried that and wasn't able to find it.

When you surf east stay northish and you will see some rocks - you have to
look for the break in the rocks to get in..

And remember that you have to beat the Fab Five first - that moves some
rocks in the area so you can get to the Sky Pillar. If you were thinking
of using it to toughen up some Pokemon, or to get Rayquaza, before beating
the Pokemon League, you're going to have to come up with another plan.

(Besides, if you can take Rayquaza down, you can beat those guys anyway.)

No, I've beaten Pokemon League a long time ago, I was going to maybe use it
for some training since I'm still in the very slow process of training my
team up to Level 100 (they're around level 90-ish now). I had found a few
areas that looked like there could be water on the other side but there were
no paths through the rocks at all...hmm. Thanks for the help, though, I'll
look again next time I play. Just a question, would the R/S time glitch
affect this at all? I wouldn't think so, especially since I beat the Pokemon
League a long time before the glitch took effect, but just wondering...

Try this:

Fly to Pacifidlog Town. Starting from the Pokemon Center, walk right until
you get to the end of the floating walkway, then Surf right. You'll pass a
pair of tubers, and if you keep going right, you'll hit a rock wall. Follow
the rock wall right for about two screens, until you get to an area where
there are three swimmers (two stationary swimmers and one moving swimmer).
Go up. There will be a break in the rock wall, opening into a little maze
of rocks. Go left, up, right, up. The Sky Pillar will be right in front of
you. Make sure you have a Mach Bike and a lot of patience with you, because
the Sky Pillar is full of collapsing floors.

I don't think the timer glitch would prevent the Sky Pillar from appearing.
The timer glitch affects features that rely on the in-game clock, so it can
keep berries from growing, and once-a-day events from recurring. It can't
stop TV programs from airing or NPC trainers from rebattling, since those
events are based on the number of steps you take, not time; and it has no
effect on the flow of the story itself. If you absolutely cannot get the
Sky Pillar to appear, it may be that some other glitch is affecting your
game, but it wouldn't be related to the timer glitch.

I found it yesterday (actually before I saw this post), thanks everyone for
the help. I think what threw me off is that you actually have to go left
for a little bit to find the zig-zag path in, so I wouldn't have tried that
before since I was thinking "go east". I actually was expecting the Mach
Bike section to be a lot harder based on what other people here said, the
last floor was the only part that was sort of hard to me and I'd really call
it more medium-hard.. Now I'm just in the process of trying to catch
Rayquaza...

OK, now I hate you. 😛
Us old geezers (well, mostly me) can hardly get past the 3rd floor since I
can't turn the mach bike w/o running into stuff and/or turning too far.

A me too post. I haven't even tried the bike section, just go in enough to
get the really big pokes. And I also hate you. Medium-hard......grrrr.

It takes a while, but with enough practice, it's not too hard. If you want,
you can save when you reach a new floor, so if you fall, you don't have to
start over. I didn't bother doing this, since it was less effort to do it
all again than reset the game and wait for it to load. The practice was
valuable too.

If you reload from save, don't you start off at the last Pokemon Center?
That's starting over, so far as this goes.

No, the Pokemon games have always let you save anywhere and reload from
that spot. The only exception is Colosseum.

Stupid old man arthritic fingers!
In the end I got my girlfriend to do the mach bike section for me, I
bribed her with the offer of a heracross >;-)
All joking aside that's one of the reasons I like the pokemon games so
much, they have never relly relied on the fast reaction times and manual
dexterity that a lot of games require.
Ahh for the days many years ago when I spent many hours playing stuff like
pong and space invaders....

Hmm, I seem to be drawing the hatred of many other AGNPers...doesn't seem
much different than normal to me. 😛

This brings me to another question I've had since getting past the mach bike
section - why do so many people suggest saving/reloading when you get to the
next floor? If you fall, you don't fall all the way down to the bottom of
the Sky Pillar, you just fall down to the sort of "gateway" floor below it.
So if you for example fall on the 3rd floor, you can walk right back to the
doorway on the floor below and try it again, you don't have to go all the
way back through 1st/2nd/3rd.

You don't like games that require fast reactions, but you miss space
invaders? Am I missing something here?

No no, I liked games that relied on fast reaction times, past tense,my
arthritis means that I can't play them any more.

Ted - You are not alone in gaming with arthritis...I have the same problem
but can play most games with my brace. My arthritis, is limited to one basal
joint though so although painful it is not extensive.

Mines pretty much all over so I don't play much nowerdays.
I'm sorry to hear that you have problems with arthritis and I hope that
you don't get to much pain from it.

If I recall correctly, it depends on how far you get in each floor. I might
be wrong.
