R420 nearly ready

Well it seems ATI is a bit ahead of expectations, but like the article says, it's still up to marketing to decide when the final product hits store shelves.

Wow, that's exciting, and yet depressing too. The whole marketing game and not seeing some benchies until the time is right. Ugh, I could better handle thinking that it isn't ready. I can't blame them though. If people are still paying $400+ for radeon 9800XT's and the stock is plentiful, why release new cards. Come On NVidia, put up a fight so we can see some new cards.

The only bad news here is, most of the people here (including me) can't afford to buy this card when it will hit markets.

Imagine how great he is going to feel when he upgrades that to the R420 (which is rumored to be twice as fast as the 9700Pro)!

I can easily afford a 9800pro, but when I know a much superior card is bound to be released soon, I'll be kicking myself since I've held out this long. I know the new ones will be expensive, but like I said, money isn't that much of an issue. Its worth holding out for that generational improvement.

Yeah the thing is I can afford one, I'm just worried that all the anticipation will make me think, ahh wait for the 0.11 R450 so I'll have another interesting toy. If the performance isn't worthy of the price, I'll stick with my R9600Pro and buy enough beer for my 15FPS to look like it's 90fps, I'll probably come out ahead in the deal (nice foamy head). Ahh the Physics and Chemistry behind slowing down time.

I really want the R423 to have something that just makes me say, ahhhhh, this is worth it!

LOL

I buy too much hardware, and can't get myself to spend $500 on one video card no matter how fast it is. Same with a CPU. Somewhere I just mentally draw the line between crazy and a good deal. Sure, if these new cards double the performance of my 9800 Pro, I'll be jealous and want one. But at least I'll know that mine was half the price. When my minimum fps become an issue then I'll reconsider. I sure am anxiously awaiting benchies for this next round though.
