Hey guys i own a sapphire r7 240 i heard that it is an locked r7 250 so i thought about flash bios to upgrade my GPU to r7 250.So i did that and it really unlocked but it seems I get usage spikes in some game(not in furmark)and also my vcore voltage changes between 1.5v and 1.2v is there any way to remove r7 240 whole firmware and get r7 250.Temps also not exceed more then 65c.

i honestly doubt it is a lcoked gpu version but it seems to work as you report

about temperature, the r7 250 is meant to be used at 720p or hd resolutions, some games at 1080p

about temperature, does it have a small fan cooling it? now you see why it was a r7 240, it is not a gaming gpu so it has poor airflow

65°c is a low temeprature, problems are after 70° iirc for that gpu

Gpuz shows me it has 384 unified shaders and 24 tpu.It has a small fan.But i did a small change i had an intel cooler so i took off the heat sink and got it applied on card.It has a small fan.

the firmnware and the specs can report two things but it was sold as a r7 240 for a reason, some of the cores and tpu on that r7 250 could be faulty explaining the erratic performance

that is what you get when you hack a part like this, about wiping completelly the firmware to make it think it is a r7 250, if the hack you did, did not do it, you need another custom firware or another method but is possible it will go that far you have went only

Tell me a way to make it a r7 250.Dont worry about bricking it as i dont need it anymore plus i like to do experiments on old stuff.

I just figured out the problem it was the drivers and the other GPU tweaking tools after upgrading my windows 7 to 10 i saw there was no more spikes and it was stable.

now I see why it is possible.
