R7 260x on old system

I'm planning to build a new system but for the time being I'm just going to replace some old components until I can afford other components.
So I want to replace my old GPU and PSU first. But I don't know whether these components will work on an old system.
I have Intel Core 2 Duo E7500 2.93Ghz on Gigabyte P31-ES3G motherboard. I'm planning to put R7 260x and Seasonic X560 on the old system. Will it work? If it will, will my current CPU bottleneck the new GPU?
Also, the reason I pick that PSU is because I'm also planning to build a new system using that same PSU.
Here's what I come up with: AMD FX-6300, ASUS M597 EVO R2.0, same GPU and PSU.
Please tell me what you think.

I put a R9 270X on my 5 yr old HP with a AMD Athlon II x4

as long as you have a compatible PSU and a pci-e 16x slot you should be right as rain

It should be fine, yes your current cpu will be a bottleneck in many games. But since your going to upgrade that later dont worry about it. Although i would go with an intel i3 and socket 1150 motherboard instead of the amd, the am3 socket is old and dead and most of am3 motherboards have dated features.
