I have an XFX R7 260x "Double Dissipation" edition - 2gb DDR5. The card has been great for the last 3 months, the highest load temp has been 76 Celsius and it usually stays around mid 60's. I use MSI Afterburner and HWmonitor to monitor temps religiously.
My issue now is that all of a sudden I am seeing brief spiked temp readings, it started with 85-89C and today I got a 99C reading.... There have been a few times where the screen tore and I had to restart, but not alot.
I took out the card, took off the heat sink, and of course there was WAAAAAY too much thermal paste all over the place. So I cleaned it with thermal paste remover, then used purifier, then applied Artic Silver 5. I was hoping this would fix the issue, but it has not.
Nothing has changed in my system. The case has adequate airflow, the card is NOT overclocked, and I even have the fan to run at 100% all the time..... still getting high readings. The problem I have is that it was rock solid for 3 months and now even after applying my own thermal paste, its still bad. Here are my specs:
Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-Z97MX-Gaming 5 LGA 1150 Intel Z97
CPU: G3258 overclocked to 4.2ghz
RAM: G.SKILL Sniper 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Model F3-12800CL9D-8GBSR
CPU COOLER: Zalman CNPS8900
CASE: Thermaltake LANBOX VF1000BWS (I know its a small case, but the card has PLENTY of airflow, especially the way the fans are facing)....
PSU: PC Power and Cooling 750 watt
Any solutions? Thanks!
Also - I am using the stock AMD drivers (no beta drivers) and I only play world of warcraft, so the graphics load is not that intense compared to other games like GTA5 or Dragon Age Inq...
Also - idle temp is 34C
