R7 260x shuttering

Hello everyone,

I have a r7 260x from xfx and it works fine. I have tested the memory integrity with occt, stress tested it too. It works fine with every game but the witcher. When I play the witcher it freezes when the temperature gets close to 80, the card goes to 75% usage until the temperature drops and then the game unfreezes. I have no idea why this is happening.

Any suggestions?

Use in AMD CCC overdrive tab and increase manually Fan RPM + Open case + clean GPU from dust.

The GPU is new, which program controls this temperature limit? I know 80 is high but don't graphic cards handle much more?

How looks airflow in you case, room temperatures ?

My R7 260X max reach 65C.

AMD CCC is added to drivers:

As you see on bottom you have FAN control.

it looks the same as your in idle. I the case cooling is good, I have 4 120mm fans. I have a 120mm fan right next to the gpu, I mean the gpu almost didn´t fit. It is blowing air into the gpu so I thought that would help. At max using a stress test it gose to 85 degress. Should I remove the 120mm fan? My case is the cougar qbx, I think it desnt have a good airflow even with all the coolers.

My now in idle now have 36C Ambient in room 28C
* I do not have any fans in case and I running case with removed both side panels 😉

Set fan in GPU at 100% and make stress test.
