Hi toms people. i have recently bought a second hand laptop pavilion 15 with A10 and the r7 m260. but im getting very bad fps. my old laptop with i5 and HD 4000 graphics ran these games no problem.
i checked all the drivers installed the latest from the AMD website. turned up the battery usage to maximise performance and made sure the games were in the radeon game settings.
this is what is happening.
the difference in fps from low graphics and high graphics is minimal. with an average fps of around 20. the difference in graphics however is really big.
on my i5 it is impossible to run the graphics on improved setting with an fps of around 15 or less. but it runs smoothly at 50fps on reduced setting. i find this very wierd that a GPU with 2GB memmory would have no/very small gain in fps when using reduced graphics.
also, on improved setting. events in the game happen supper fast. for example fireworks in the background which should explode slowly are only a flash. and snow which should fall slowly rains down like hail.
i tested the GPU with GPU-z and the maximum GPU core speed maxes out at only 400mhz and the GPU Memory clock maxes out at 600mhz. that cant be right. the default clock is 980MHz. GPU Load is locked on 100% when running the game. temp never exceeds 80 celcius.
on idle both core clock and memory clock sit on 300MHz Load is then 0% which indicates it is switching between APU and GPU
i think i have tried everything. i just dont think my GPU is working properly. how could this 2GB GPU run games worse than intel HD 4000 graphics. the only other thing i can think of is that the games themselves are poorly optimized.
any help would be appreciated thank you.
