OK, theres been tons of speculation about the makeup of the R800 family, its ability and possible usage for DX11 etc. Well, I have some more, and remember, this is just speculation and rumor.
It seems the ugly speculation about MCM has reared its head once again, and that the R800 family may/could consist of 2 to 4 di as top end, using only 1 core for low end. Someones even speculating a native dual core setup, and how this would work is anybodies guess.
Another rumor Ive heard, and it comes from a great source, one that let the cat out of the bag last time about the 4870 having 800 shaders, same person, has said the top end card for ATI wont be out til early 2010. Whether thats a 4 core new breed or what I dunno, but keep this one in mind, as to the timing of release.
I guess any all or none of this could happen, but also keep in mind, that the pricing weve seen is possibly an indicator of whats to come.
