R9 270 crossfire or single R9

Is better to crossfire 2 270x 4gb gddr5 each one (4x2) making 8 gb in total or do I go for a 4 gb gddr5 r9 290x

I want this pc to run games for a long time without upgrading so I guess go for 8 gb the is better, but but you tell me.

I would go with the single R9 290.

Running 2 cards in sli does not double the video ram. You would still only have 4gb with 2 270x's. The 290x would open more options for you as you could always sli that card later for more horsepower. Once you sli a 270x that's pretty much it, you are capped out. 3 and 4 way sli setups are stupid and the scaling is so terrible it's a waste of money.
