I recently installed an R9 270 it gave no signal and it was only detected as a pci device so i tried to manually install microsoft's basic display adapter driver this made it come up as an adapter but it could not install drivers there is a slight scratch on the pci connector (see pics). My psu is a corsair cx430 which i am planning to upgrade soon.

its not a scratch, the gold plated foil has lifted from the pcb and folded up, so there is nothing conductive to make contact with the slot.

If the card is new, RMA it, if you bought it 2nd hand from a legit site, return it.

If neither of the above are options, you are going to have to try and repair it.

I would also check the slot, to make sure there isnt some debris in there that caused the damage.

How are your soldering skills??

Either solder a very thin piece of flat copper onto the remaining track, or try using some conductive silver/gold paint to replace the damaged section.

Conductive silver paint can be hand from some car repair sites (used for heated window element repairs); conductive gold paint from a hifi specialist...

First of all thanks for answering. I have no experience in soldering do you think a local pc shop could do that for me as I bought this online a couple months back and didn’t install it the fans spin up fine though. Do you think it’s worth salvaging as these things cost around £50 on eBay .

I am not sure if it is something they would do, or how much they might try to charge.

You might be better off trying the silver repair paint; no soldering involved, you just paint on a new track that overlaps the existing one, and let it dry.

With care, you might even be able to unfold the existing track into place, then the silver paint will act like glue, holing it in place - as long as you dont allow it to reach the adjoining track.
