Recently I was looking to upgrade the following computer with a dedicated graphics card.

DX4370-UR21:
CPU- AMD A6 3620 APU 2.2GHz
RAM- 6GB (1x4 GB, 1x2GB)
HDD- 500 GB HDD
Graphics card- AMD Radeon HD 6530D
PSU- 300W

I ended buying a virtually new R9-270 for less than $100 from someone on kijiji (so can't return it). I know I have to upgrade my PSU before installing the card, but I wanted to fit the card in anyway before hand. Unfortunately, being the noob that I am, I didn't measure the card and basically had to cut a small hole in the back of my case and bend some brackets. Since there is nowhere to screw in the gpu I placed my pc on its side to prevent sagging.

Long story short, I want to know if this is dangerous, if the gpu will be compatible and if there is simple fix. As well since I have not purchased a PSU, a recommendation before I buy one (budget $50).

Thanks!

You will need a well branded PSU with at least 500W, so check your options and put them here to give you the best choice. And it may work with the case like that, but it's not recommended, and you have to get a new case for it to prevent future harm.

Any advice on a new compatable case? The gpu's fit on the motherboard is a little tight as well due to the location of power cables on the motherboard, would this also be an issue as well?

I can attach a picture if what I'm saying isn't clear.

Ok, just checking. I'm looking into buying Antec solo case (not the solo II), will this be compatible with my current setup (i.e. my motherboard and the gpu)?

Thanks for all the help!
