So today i got a pretty good deal on Gigabyte Radeon R9 270 Oc, 2gb. But im wondering if my current power supply is enough to work with this card.

My specs are:

i3-2100
6gb ddr3 ram.
GTX 460 se ( Dead )
1 TB hdd
500w Power Supply ( http://i.imgur.com/quXM800.jpg ) image of my PSU.
My motherboard is: h61m-vs

Im not going to max out power of the GPU in the games if this means anything :).

Solution
I don't think that the amount of power being used is an issue here. It's more that your power supply is not of a good quality and will therefore cause problems in your machine, regardless of what GPU is being used. The GTX 750 Ti is quite a powerful card but you can get better cards for the money. The card you wanted (270X OC) is a great card and your PSU should not stop you from purchasing it, especially if you have a good deal on it.

As you said in the post above, your PSU is running at 5+ years and you will eventually need to get an upgrade. I RECOMMEND you do that upgrade and get the graphics card you wanted as it will be a worthy upgrade. If you can tell me how much you have to spend for both a power supply and graphics card...
it's safe,if you just put the r9 270 because it just require 1x6 pin connector, but if you try for r9 270x i'm not sure about it :\ is that local PSU?and then it's was 500w pure power or peak power?

As far as i can see it's not X one. And i can't really understand what you mean by Pure power or peak power? Im sorry... Maybe my posted image can say something about it?

i'm fear if your psu is a local psu or generic psu because they have worse components, peak power is meaning the maximum power of psu can handle it but it's only for short time, the pure power is meaning the psu really have the power through your pc and sorry i can't recognize your psu brand 🙁

You're right, I think OP is due for a PSU upgrade as the one he currently has seems to be utter rubbish(i quote).

I recommend a Corsair 750M as it will last you a very long time and is future proof in case you need more power in the future.
The reason I asked if it was the X version was that I couldn't a non X OC version and don;t believe they exist. X GPUS are generally clocked higher by ATI and therefore are the ones that are further OverClocked (OC). Any chance of a link so I can verify for you?

I guess ill just go for 750ti, im too scared to burn out my PC if i plug in r9 270 . Kinda shame, because ill have to pay slightly more for 750 ti than 270.

MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti OC V1, 2GB GDDR5 (128 Bit) Thinking about this one, it says that it does not require pin connector because PCI slot can provide up to 75w.

Maybe you can recommend something better? Or this is good enough? :)

Im using mine for 5 years now i think, so yeah, i'll have to upgrade it eventually.

And thanks to everyone else who is trying to help me, i really appreciate it.

If you can tell me how much you have to spend for both a power supply and graphics card combined, I will my best to make the best recommendation with performance and quality in mind. The Power Supply Unit is a very important part of your system and one that you should hold no compromise for. Get the best power supply you can afford.

For future proofing I recommend the Corsair CX 750 or CX600. Depending on how much you have to spend you can get either one as they will both work for your setup. I am not sure about this but I think that the CX750 only has 2 x 6 pin PCI-E connectors, whereas the CX600 has 2 x 6+2 PCI-E connectors.

Thanks!

My budged is 150$, maybe it's a bit even less, because im living in Europe and will have to pay for shipping. I can get 270 for 128$, seller is living near me so no shipping costs :). But as of power supply, they are a bit costy + shipping.

Also im planning to get i5-2500k CPU, not now but after a few months. I don't know if this has to do something with getting new psu, but still letting you know.

Haha, that leaves $22 for a decent powr supply at 500W. Not impossible. I'll see what I can do but seeing as you need a power supply upgrade any way and how the reason you're in this mess is for cheaping out on a power supply... I think it would be smart to spend a little bit more.

I'll get back to you on what I find

Let's add 30$+ to 22$ more then :). Im pretty sure i can save up a bit.

that psu is junk and needs to be replaced. 26 amps on the 12v rail is NOT even close to 500w psu. i have a dell 375w oem psu that has 36 amps on the 12v rail!!! i would be hesitant to even try a 750ti with that psu.

i have no idea what is available to you but the corsair cx series is not the best but good for normal use. look for an xfx, seasonic, superflower, evga b2, g2, w2 psu's these will all be great quality and allow for better psu. you should have over 40 12v amps in a quality 500w psu and over 60 amps for 600-650 w. this is the important number to look at not the watts it says it has as this number is very misleading. do not skimp on the psu as it is the heart of the system and a junk heart will leave you DOA as the system will be!!

Hi,

Take a look here.
http://www.kilobaitas.lt/Kompiuteriu_komponentai/Korpusu_mait_saltiniai/CatalogStore.aspx?CatID=PL_403

There are quite a few different power supply units from corsair and I believe this store is from your place so it should either have free shipping or very low cost shipping. The only one to fit your budget is the Corsair VS 550, I know there are other brands and I will take a look at those too in a while, I am focusing on Corsair because I know they work well and wanted to provide a speedy reply.

I am about to watch the review below.

From the specs everything seems to be okay, but I want to make sure it has enough connections and will be future-proof.
Thanks!

I probably buy this one, seems like it has really good reviews and everyone likes it.

6+2-pin (PCI-E) It means that it has Two PCI-E 6 pin connectors, right? Because 270 requires two as i can understand 😀.
