I just bought an R9 270. I'm pairing it up with my sorta-decent 750k. I know it's an old CPU but I would want to know what kind of frames I would get in games such as GTA V, BF4, and Far Cry 4 on high settings. First, I would like to know if it will even run at all. Second, I would like to know an estimate of the frames to expect with those 3 games on high settings.

Solution
It would run but because of how old and bad the CPU is, it would limit the 270s frames on games by a lot. Usually on GTA V you would get a steady 60 frames on high 2xMSAA but with the CPU you could be looking at 30 to 45 frames on the same configuration. So I'd suggest getting a fx 6300 instead.

Really? Does 2xMSAA do anything if I turned it off and left everything else at high? Would I expect better performance?

MSAA makes lines less straight looking and the more #xMSAA the more circular rounded lines look (which is good) if you turn it off, you would notice it but not too much. If you were to put it off you would expect around 50 frames max with the old x4 and around 75 FPS with the fx 6300.

To be honest I'm kinda confused. My friend just said that with the same CPU but a GTX 650 instead, he gets 50 fps and high settings. His GPU had only 1GB and the R9 270 is much better and has 2GB. I was wondering at first because there were no tests on this GPU with the same CPU. But since you're saying that I would get a solid 50 fps, I wondered if I would get over 60 easily.

the cpu does slow down performance, so your friend must have overclocked from what i can see

Ok, thanks for the help. I might decide to overclock or even upgrade to an 860k.
