My system:
AMD FX-8350 (H100i cooler)
Asus M5A99x EVO R2.0
Asus Radeon R9 270x 2GB DirectCU II
Corsair HX750
G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900)
running Windows 8.1
I bought this rig and assembled it in early July and everything ran smoothly until sometime late August/early September. Gave me an error "Video_TDR_Failure". After reset it worked fine. This happened 2 more times between then and November when The screen just went blank, and then the monitors went to sleep. Forced reset it, and after some time it happened again. Reset it again everything seemed fine. this kept happening and the frequency of it increased. This happened for a couple of days until instead of just going blank and the monitor going to sleep, the screen changed to a different color. It was not a solid color, it appeared broken up by vertical lines that were alternating, lighter and darker. The color of them varied between monitors and each time it happened. After this happened the VGA_LED on my MOBO lit up and resetting did not fix the issue. after reseating the video card. it worked for a time and then kept happening eventually I could not get it to boot at all.
Put a older video card in it and it has not had a single issue. Filed an RMA, asus repaired the card. Swapped the card out, windows loaded fine and then before I could enter my password lines a cross the screen again. reset it and it worked fine for about a day. Then same issues happening slightly less frequently. Filed and advanced RMA got a new card, swapped it out worked for 2 hrs and similar issues.
I've tried re-installing windows.
uninstalling drivers
switching PCI slots
different monitors
using different cords
using each port video port (VGA, DVI, HMDI, DP)
let it idle in bios, after and hour went blank and Boot_LED came on
I uninstalled the drivers, then ran it in safe mode for 40 minutes and it worked fine.
used 2 other video cards in this rig and it worked perfectly fine for days
I put the R9 in a different rig and it worked fine for over an hour.
I'm at my wits end with this thing, any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
