I recently put together a system with an R9 270x. When I boot up the system the fans start to run, but when I try to hook up my monitor to my gpu it just shows a "no signal" message on the screen. When I hook the monitor up to the motherboard it defaults to the onboard graphics and cannot recognize the r9 270x. I'm running a power supply with 500w. I've installed all the newest drivers, but they don't seem to do anything.

Is the cable in good condition?

Were you using the correct ports on the video card and monitor? Check your graphics card spec and tv spec.

Is your card fully intop the top motherboard pcie slot? Is it locked in?

Are the powers supply connectors fully on the graphics card?

has 2 12V rails each capable of 20A and 25A. The 270X needs 24A. If you connected the wrong rails, that might cause a problem. That's why single rail psu's are preferred. eg Seasonic 520, XFX 550, Antec HCG 520M
It shouldn't be causing your problem. But it will stop your card working on high demand graphics eg games. Cougar psu's show up on the...

I looked under the BIOS earlier, but couldn't find anything related to graphics, but I'll recheck in the morning (sorry about the noobiness, this is my first pc build.)

Edit: Also MSI has a handy display where you can see the motherboard and what's connect to it, but when I look under the PCIE, the graphics card does not show up, and it seems to be secure.
