R9 270x running at 90-95 during Civ Beyond Earth

The card runs at 38 idle temp but goes up to 90-95 during Civ Beyond Earth. The dust was blown off and it has new thermal paste. Are those temps safe? It doesn't go that high in other games. Temp is from Gpu temp

you might want to consider getting a program like EVGA Precision to throttle your GPU back when it gets too hot.

That's pretty hot. Is it OC'd? Go to manufacturer's website and maybe they have ratings but I would limit it to about 70 deg C. Usually you'll BSOD at too high a temp.

AMD cards are officialy stated to tolerate temps upto 90-95c

around 75c is usualy the average

if you are too concerned then use MSI Afterburner th increase fan speed to 100% ..it will help

sid myers civilization beyond earth is a very heavy game

have you switched on mantle?

I was using AMD mantle while running it. The card isn't overclocked. I reapplied the thermal paste I think I had too much. It is now running Civ at 70-78 is that fine?

i suggest you to use directx and see if it lowers the temps

mantle usualy gives gpu the work relieving the cpu...

yes that 70-78 is is fine. also if your frame rate is above 60 you might want to enable v-sync. that can also limit your gpu activity and will lower your temps some more.
