So hey guys I've almost finished deciding the rig I'm going to build and now the gpu is the last piece of the puzzle. Help me decide between these two for gaming at 1080p:

SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R9 270X 2GB GDDR5 OC WITH BOOST
VS
Leadtek GTX760(Reference card)

So the GTX 760 is overall faster I think and also has better drivers and that cool app shadow play but then again the R9 270x is slightly cheaper, comes with better fans, has Mantle(Is Mantle really that good?) and also comes with BF4 which i could try to sell. So guys help me out please, I'm getting really stressed out here 🙁

P.S Here is the build i have proposed:
Intel Core i3-4130 3.4GHz Dual-Core Processor
ASRock H81M-HDS Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
G.Skill Value 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
BitFenix Merc Alpha (Black) ATX Mid Tower Case
Xigmatek Tauro 600w

R9 270x will give superior performance than a 760 however condition is if that Sapphire model has a good cooling or not.
i think it does though

760 also is a good GPU for its price , it has better cooling and efficient power consumption with some good overclocking room and lesser noise however AMD lacks in those. but Sapphire seems promising in settling down cooling problems which will definitely make R9 270x a great choice.
yes mantle seem a good technology. also 270x comes with a BF4 digital DL though depend if Sapphire has offer though

Conclusion: R9 270x better choice go for it no doubt.

270x or OCed 270 is what I would suggest. Mantle is not completely functional. But soon it will be. It will boost performance a little.

760 without doubt is is the best card at 1080p. But it costs more. if you want to go with 760 avoid reference cards. get a OCed card with cooler. Asus/MSI

My Asus r9 270 overclocks and surpasses 270x..... So no the GTX 760 OC ability is not superior in any way. My r9 270 stock is 975mhz. And it can run at overclock of 1175 mhz stable..... So that is BS if you say 760 OC better.

You are talking a single card result, I was talking in general, and as far as the Asus card the 270 CU is stock with a core clock of 950, the 975 you reference incorrectly is the Boost clock 😉 . Also, again in general the 760 GPUs OC extremely well, so combined the 760 is the faster overall card at stock and when both OCed it generally is still better :)

That comment of yours is fanboyism. GTX 760 vs R9 270 benchmark even at stock not overclock is only than 2-3% performance difference. That 3% does not warrant a price of $330. Even with the stupid bitcoiners, the R9 270 from MSI is only $229 and the R9 270x version is only $20 more. So suggesting someone who might be on a budget a card that costs 45% more in real performance is stupid. Period. You might as well just buy the R9 280 since its the same price as the Gtx 760 when R9 280 =GTX 770.

It makes no economical sense....Including the fact that AMD owns the gaming market due the consoles. Mantle development will be excessively used in the next 1-2 years.

So wasting an extra $100 for a 2% performance that only yields 3-4 fps is not worth the price.

By the way asus may say its 950 at stock, AMD catalyst default is at 975 and it will always run at 975, never 950.

Well have no idea where you shop, but I just ordered a Asus 760 for $259 for a rig, and the 270Xs are generally close to that, ranging from a little lower to higher, all while you are attempting to do whatever it is you are doing (why you jumped into a 4 month old thread I have no idea), regardless the gist of the original question back in Decemnber is which is the better card. From the testing I had done, available reviews, BMs, hardware comparisons, etc...the 760 was and is

I only come upon this posts on google. Considering this was 4 months ago the prices of GTX 4 months ago were in the range of $330, its cheap now because Nvidia is losing their shoes to AMD on the price/performance of the higher end cards.

So no, most the performance websites that most specs on both cards shown a performance of only 2-3% difference.

Oh please, the 760 has been around $260 for a long, long time. And AMD rebranded their 7xxx cards and torqued them up a bit last October, and by December the prices on those were shooting up, not on the 7xx line, the upper end 7xx were dropping, I picked up a 280x at the release and by early Jan they were up about $150 over their introduction price (due to the bit coin miners).

First of all R9 280x is only expensive in the US not anywhere else. The 280x only costs $360 where I live and hasnt gone up at all. The GTX i checked newegg and NCIX 4 moths ago both of them in the US costs $330+. By the way, I looked at both GTX 760 and R9 270 during February between which to buy. GTX even then at newegg and NCIX were both expensive at $299 from EVGA and it was the cheapest out of the others.

Not when I checked it. I know this is true because my friend bought a GTX 760 from NCIX 1 month ago at $299 (with $10 mail-in-rebate which adds up to $289). To consider that fact GTX 760 is a good choice if its only ~$10-15 difference from R9 270. But if its like $35-50 difference since I got R9 270 at $207 from NCIX then IMO its not worth the extra cash.

--> By the way, Nvidia cards in the US is heavily discounted. Anywhere outside of USA its extremely expensive. I checked UK and Canada both countries sell Nvidia at the cheapest price of $289. Nowhere else cheap. On the contrary, AMD is extremely cheap everywhere except the USA. Perhaps the price of Nvidia GTX 760 is only cheap in the US currently can only be due to the fact Nvidia wants to sell more against the competitive and rising prices of AMD. Bait and switch?? It only makes sense that way since if you say the prices were cheap in December and thats when AMD prices started to rise during bitcoin.

No offense but you are jumping all over about a what 5 month period and prices can fluctuate based on availability at the retailers and demand...which is normal...once again this is a post from months ago, it's a simple which is better, and clearly states the 270X is 'slightly' cheaper, which is best..the best card by your own admission (according to what your have 'read' is the 760...why you want to rationalize your opinion, I don't know, just as I have no idea why you wanted to jump in a thread that is months old, I'm glad you got a good 270, whoooppppeeee
