I want to know which card will overclock better while being water cooled. It seems the 280 performs better out of the box, but I cannot find any specs about how it overclocks. Do AMD cards or Nvidia cards typically overclock better? I hear Nvidia card makers lock voltage but I am not sure about AMD.

I know it is not cost effective to water cool mid range cards but I am water cooling for aesthetics for a school project.

Thanks!

the R9 280 overclcks better, we all know how good the 7970/7950 overclocked, and they are known to be some of the best overclocking chips to date. The R9 280 is a rebrand of the 7950, and the 280 edges the 760. The 280 will overclock much better the the 760 putting it even further in front.

Get the R9 280!

Sweet! That is what I though. I just got a PowerColor R9 280 on Newegg for $215, even cheaper than the cheapest GTX 760 ath $239! I can't wait to get this thing under water.

Anyone know if it is necessary to go beyond using just copper heatsinks for vrms and vram when using a universal water block?
