r9 280 vs 7950

Hello guys,I have 3 gtx 660ti which i am going to sell for 260$ each and i can get 3 amd 7950 for 330$ each but should i get 3 amd r9 280x instead for 419$.Is it worth the extra 90 bucks or should i just buy the amd 7950,Really need help here guys and this my rest of the rig=i5 2500k,8gb ram,2tb hard drive,650w power supply.Keep in mind that the the r9 280x is a gigabyte brand while the 7950 is a club3d card.Guys i am buying the amd for mining so keep that in mind.

the 7950 can easily over clock to the equivalent performance of the R9-280X, plus a bit more. But of course the 280X can also over clock. Look at reviews and benchmarks for both to see how they perform in the games you want to play.

660ti is similar in performance to HD7950 so no go the 280X is an upgrade but not massive. For mining either card will do but the 280X is more capable.

R9 280, is a SLIGHTLY better card, but wont be a massive improvement. But it's always best to have a newer card. You could always overclock your 7950, but i would go with the R9 290 and over-clock that.

It will mine more coins so eventually it will pay off, but really up to you to make the decision what you want to spend. It is really miners like yourself that drove up the prices, few months ago you could pick up a 280X for $300 and I bought a HD7950 for $179 in October!

May i ask,that where did you get a 7950 for $180 and where could i get one for under $300 and are used 7950 or r9 280 good or should i pick one of the shelf?also which brand for the r9 280x?

It was before the price hike since I am not a miner but a gamer I am considering to sell both my HD7950 cards in exchange for GTX760 since they are catching 300+ used on Ebay.
280X brand does not really matter if it is one of MSI, Gigabyte, Asus, Sapphire to name few.

I am a miner and gamer both and this is my mining rig while i have a separate miner with 3x7950 and i am going to do this with this rig too with 3xr9 280x and going to get a separate rig which i am going to sli with gtx 780ti.And you should get a gtx 770 instead as it is better an i your price range and now to newegg to order 3 asus r9 280x
