R9 280 VS the nvidia gtx 960

As the title suggests, I'm in the market for a $200 or so gpu and i was wondering which one was superior, the before gtx 960 form nvidia or the r9 280 from amd, i will be gaming on 1080p

The 280. If you can go either the 280x or 285. The 280 will perform better than the 960.

Oh, for 1080p, oops it appears I have missed that. Excuse me, they are on par with one another with GTX 960 being just a fraction faster than the 280. But other than that, they perform pretty much the same. But keep in mind that the GTX 960 costs more than the 280.
