R9 280 will fit in PCIe v2.x slot?

My motherboard is a ga-m68mt-s2 and it has a PCIe v2.x slot.
I have an AMD HD 6780 atm and im looking to upgrade it to a R9 280,
Will it be compatible? How do I know which graphics cards are compatible with my motherboard?

Yes, it will work, PCIE 3.0 and 2.0 are the same thing effectively and 100% backwards compatible.
