R9 280X(£240) or non reference R9 290(£340)

Is the r9 290 worth £100 more than the r9 280x on one monitor at 1080p?

depends......for 60hz monitor? No but if you want to use a 120hz or higher then i would say yes. The extra power required to pump out 120fps consistently just couldnt be had from the 280x.

For a 60hz monitor. I don't mind about 120hz. I only want to manage 60fps.

a 280x holds 50+ at ultra in bf4 i do believe.

Definitely the 280x then. If you're not adamant about getting anymore than 60fps, then the R9 280x is for you. Save the money.
